Thom Knab, art teacher at Dodge Elementary School in Williamsville, is one of only 32 teachers selected from across the country to receive a prestigious Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Power of Art Award.
The Power of Art is a national competition that celebrates excellence in art education and innovative teaching methods. Knab will attend a special one-day workshop at the Lab School of Washington, D.C., on May 16, followed by an awards presentation and reception.
Sponsored by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the workshop is designed to help teachers better understand, help, and teach students with learning disabilities.
Robert Rauschenberg, called a master of modern art, supports the Power of Art Award to emphasize the importance and value of art education in the classroom, especially for those students with learning disabilities.
Knab has taught at Dodge since 1990.
