Judy Garland's legendary 1961 Carnegie Hall concert is the subject of MusicalFare Theatre's production of "Beyond the Rainbow: The New Judy Garland Musical" which continues through May 25.
"Beyond the Rainbow" tells the tragic and memorable story of Judy Garland. "Beyond the Rainbow" simultaneously treats the audience to the famed concert while telling the life story of one of Hollywood's most cherished and unforgettable icons.
"Beyond the Rainbow" features many Garland hits, including "The Man That Got Away," "That's Entertainment!," "Get Happy," "The Trolley Song" and, of course, "Over the Rainbow."
"Beyond the Rainbow" is by William Randall Beard, with arrangements by David Lohman. It is directed by Doug Weyand, with choreography by John Fredo and musical direction by Allan Paglia.
The cast features Loraine O'Donnell as "Concert Judy," Michele Marie Roberts as "Younger Judy" and Todd Benzin, Marc Sacco and Kathy Weese.
Performances are 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays at MusicalFare Theatre at Daemen College 4380 Main St., Amherst.
Tickets are $30 for Wednesday,
Thursday, 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and $34 for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday performances, and are available by calling 839-8540 or online at www.musicalfare.com.
