Amherst baseball controls their own destiny for division crown

      Amherst Central hasn't won a division title in baseball since 1993 but it's looking more and more like the Tigers will accomplish one of their preseason goals. Amherst moved into sole possession of first place in ECIC Division III after beating Maryvale, 9-1, last Friday at Amherst.

South boys tennis team's record stands at 8-3
      Williamsville South's boys tennis team started the week with a 3-2 victory over Maryvale on Monday, May 5 at South. Singles winners for South were first singles R.J. Grampp and third singles Brian Zaprowski. The second doubles team of Trevor Lawler and Joe Putrelo gave South the deciding point.

      Williamsville East's boys tennis team went 10-0 in league play to win the ECIC Division II title. The Flames finished 11-0 overall. East finished off its season by defeating Hamburg, 4-1, West Seneca West, 5-0, Sweet Home, 5-0, and Lake Shore 4-1, 4-1.

McMahon named Alfred State Senior Athlete of Year
      Sweet Home graduate Brianne McMahon was named Alfred State College co-Senior Athlete of the Year. McMahon led Alfred State to the Region III Championship and the National Tournament this season. She collected 435 kills, 467 digs and 76 aces.

      Williamsville South graduate and Amherst native Dana Webb has been selected to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team. Webb was also a first-team selection a year ago. She will now be placed on the national ballot for All-American voting.
