'AAA' Cardinals post victories The Central Amherst "AAA" Cardinals won their second game of the season after beating the Marlins, 11-2. Offensive highlights for the Cardinals included Sam Lobuzzetta, who went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and PJ Wing and Austin Martin, who each had two RBIs. Offensive stars for the Marlins were Matt Boccio, who went 2 for 2, and Joe Montalbano, who smacked an RBI triple. Defensively, the Cardinals got strong pitching from Michael Doucette, Amanda Helak, Jonathan Spina, and Lobuzzetta. Doucette, Wing, and Connor Brown made nice defensive plays. Montalbano and Michael Tenny played well defensively for the Marlins. Cardinals 13, Rockies 12 The "AAA" Cardinals started the 2008 season on a winning note, defeating the Rockies, 13-12. Highlights for the Cardinals included Austin Martin and Michael Doucette, who each hit 2 for 2. PJ Wing blasted a towering double and knocked in three runners. Jake Fuzak went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. The Rockies' contributors on offense were Zach McPherson, Emily Ciocca, Brendan Desrosiers and Jaime Tulumello. Cameron Ciesielski, Lobuzzetta, Martin, and Jake Fuzak, who caught a line drive and doubled up the runner on first, led the Cardinals' defense. Marlins 13, Yankees 9 Marlins pitchers Joe Sobol, Matthew Boccio and Joe Montalbano combined for 10 strikeouts and contributed nine hits and seven runs on offense. Sean Gibson, Noah Reinhart, Claire Wanzer, Connor Larson, Liam Comerford and Adam Merke played hard in the field and scored a total of six runs. Jordan Nwora, Anthony Maisano and Michael Tenney all contributed at the plate by moving their teammates on the bases. The Yankees' Liam Sullivan and Thomas Greco and Nathan Shaul combined for six hits and six runs. 'AA' senior baseball Cardinals 4, Orioles 3 Garren Dudas threw six strikeouts for the Orioles and helped them to a 3-0 lead. Zach Clor led the Orioles' offense by hitting 2 for 2. Jackson Kelly and Cameron Kiefer pitched great for the Cardinals with each hurling four strikeouts. Great games in the field and the plate came from Matt Murphy and Marissa Polino. Key hits in the Cardinal rally were hit by Jake Weinstein, Connor Vincent and David Matthew. Two RBIs came from Indigo Hare and Eddie Anders, including the game winner. Chris Wittmann scored twice, including the game winner in the last inning. |
