Marines' 11U travel lose opener

The Mathewson McCarthy Marines 11U travel team began their season with a 22-10 loss to power-hitting Cayuga.

Despite the loss, the Marines showed great character coming back from an 18-run first inning wake-up call.

Noelle Moran pitched well but her defense let her down in the first. Jimmy Honsberger, Jake Huber and Richard Patti pitched very well the rest of the way, using a variety of pitches to hold Cayuga off balance and to four runs.

A.J. Aquilino and Nick Courtney shined in the field.
