Allen shines for East girls Kala Allen was chosen as female track athlete MVP at the Kenmore Track Invitational on Saturday at Crosby Field. Allen was the meet's only triple winner, taking home first in the 100 dash (12.78), 200 dash (26.94) and open 400 (1:01.29). Other Lady Flames' highlights were personal- and season-best times for sophomores Caroline Steele in the 800 meters and Jill Cutspec in the 3,000 meters. East took eighth overall with 30 points. The next outings for the Lady Flames began with a meet at Pioneer on Tuesday and continues on at the Depew Wildcat Relays on Saturday at John F. Kennedy High School. Amherst Central Brenna Symoniak won the 1,500 in 5:02.2 and placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:28.50. In the 100 dash, Ashley Fields took second in 12.89 and Allison Rogers came in fourth in 13.23. Alex Pace took sixth in the 1500 in 5:31.8. Amherst took seventh overall with 37 points. Sweet Home Katie Niblock won the 800 in 2:25.25. Niblock also took second in the 1,500 in 5:09.1. Elyse Cramer took first in the 3,000 in 12:00.56 and placed sixth in the 800 in 2:34.79. Colleen Kozlowski came in second in the 3,000 in 12:05.40 and placed fifth in the 1,500 in 5:30. Bianca Smiley triple-jumped 32-2.75 for sixth. She also went 14-1.75 for ninth. Sweet Home tied with Grand Island for fourth in team points with 44. |
