Short-handed Lady Billies place third at Kenmore invite Despite only having 12 girls available, Williamsville South was able to place third at the Kenmore Track Invitational on Saturday at Crosby Field. The Lady Billies scored 60 points. Allie VanBuren won the 100 hurdles (15.94) and 400 hurdles (Western New York best 1:06.84). Kailyn Arcury took third in the 100 hurdles (16.43), third in the high jump (4-9), sixth in the 100 dash (13.73) and a good time for her in the 200 (29.34, did not place). Amanda Breymeier won the high jump (5-1) and was third in the 800 (2:30.75). Jennifer Lopez threw the shot put 34-3.25 for second. Cassiana Hyppolite ran a personal best 1:15.26 in the 400 hurdles for fifth. Colleen Hurtubise went 12:22.99 in the 3000 for fifth. The 4x800 relay of Hurtubise, Jenny Mooney, Breymeier and Meagan Munroe finished fifth in the 4x800 (10:44.44). Monroe's leg of 2:51.4 is a personal best. Charlie Falletta ran a 30.33 in the 200. Bridget Dix threw a personal best 88-4 in the discus. South opened the week by defeating Williamsville East, 87-46, last Thursday at South. Breymeier was a triple winner in the long jump (14-8), high jump (5-0) and 800 (230.6) and was second in the open 400 (1:02.9). VanBuren ran a Western New York best 14.4 in the 100 hurdles. She also won the 400 hurdles (1:08.6) and placed second in the 200 (26.0). Kailyn Arcury came in second in the high jump (4-8) and third in the 100 hurdles (15.6), 100 dash (13.0) and 200 dash (27.8). Kailyn's older sister, Kristina, took second in the 100 hurdles (15.0) and 100 dash (12.5). Hurtubise won the 3000 (12:03.80) and placed second in the 1500 (5:31.9). She also ran a 2:49.4 in the 800 but did not place. Cassiana Hyppolite took second in the 400 hurdles (1:17.1), third in the long jump (13-9.5) and fourth in the 100 dash (13.9). She also ran a 17.0 in the 100 hurdles. Lindsey Porter took second in the long jump (14-1), triple jump (29-11.5), shot put (24-8) and finished third in the open 400 (1:07.2). Lopez won the shot put (33-10.5) and discus (94-1). Sarah Buch came in third in the discus (60-7). Monroe ran a personal best 13:28.9 in the 3000 and came in second. She also posted a personal best time in the 800 (2:53) and ran the 1500 (6:01.9). Mooney took third in the 1500 (5:43.5) and ran a 2:42.4 in the 800. Laura Johnston came in third in the 3000 (13:34.3). She also ran the 1500 (6:03.1). Alex Ciolko took fifth in the 200 dash (28.9). Rachael DiVita ran a 1:23.3 in the 400 hurdles. Erin Moore dropped 14 seconds off a previous time in the 1500 (6:45.4) and a minute off her time in the 3000 (14:34.3). South ran at Iroquois on Tuesday but the result was unavailable before The Bee went to press. They will compete at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Depew Wildcat Relays at John F. Kennedy High School. South boys Dan Polis and Huron Hill scored all of the Billies' points at the Kenmore Track Invitational. Polis and Hill finished second (1:02.37) and third (1:03.51) in the 400 hurdles, respectively. Tim Krempa took seventh in the 110 hurdles (17.10) but ran a faster time in preliminaries (16.55). John Stark finished eighth in the 3200 (personal best time of 10:49.60). Other personal bests were posted by Jamale Vaughn (long jump, 14-8), Yahs Williams (shot put, 33-8.5) and Alex Boch (400, 4x800, 4x400) and Graham Taylor (400, triple jump). Nick Hoffman triple jumped 35-1.75 but it was not a personal best. South finished tied with Newfane for 13th place with 14 points. South lost to Williamsville East, 100-37, on Thursday at South. Polis won the 400 hurdles and took third in the long jump. Williams won the shot put and took second in the discus and 100 dash. Krempa took first in the pole vault and placed second in the 110 hurdles. South coach Dan Syracuse was pleased with his team's performance as he only had 16 of the 30 students available for the meet. |
