Car in garage blamed for fire

A fire believed to have originated in a car in a detached garage destroyed the structure and caused exposure damage to three homes Thursday at 53 Carmen Road.

Eggertsville fire chief Mike Boehm was first on location and reported heavy fire in the garage, extending to the house. Firefighters were also hampered by downed electrical lines.

Eggertsville was assisted by crews from North Bailey and Snyder. Total damage to the buildings and their contents was estimated at $63,000.
