Village 2008-09 budget adopted

The Williamsville Village Board adopted a 2008-09 budget of $2.91 million at Monday's meeting.

The increase from the 2007-08 spending plan is 4.75 percent.

Residents will see a slight tax increase. Based on 100 percent assessment, the rate is $4.13 per $1,000, but because Cheektowaga (62 percent) and Amherst (92 percent) are not at 100 percent the rates will be adjusted depending on where residents live.

No increases for elected officials are included in the budget.

In another matter, the board is seeking applicants for an open Zoning Board of Appeals seat. The board recently received notification of Malcolm Mackay's resignation. Send resumes to the Village Hall, 5565 Main St., Williamsville, NY 14221.

The primary function of the Zoning Board is to hear and decide appeals and all applications for special permits from village property owners. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
