Duo plans event to benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Sara Walsh and Daniel Nilsson, members of Team in Training, which raises money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, are training to run the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon on June 1.

They are running in honor of a co-worker's husband who was diagnosed in December and is currently undergoing treatment and a bone marrow transplant.

They have pledged to raise a minimum of $5,000 each for the society. To make that possible, they have planned an event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Brennan's Bowery Bar & Restaurant, 4401 Transit Road, at Main Street. The cost is $20 in advance or at the door and includes a two-hour open bar (beer, wine, drinks), pizza and wings, and basket raffles.
