Announcements • AVENUE Q - A limited number of seats in the orchestra section will be made available for $25 for every performance of "Avenue Q," the Tony® Award-winning Best Musical, at Shea's. The $25 tickets go on sale at the Shea's box office on the day of performance only, two hours prior to the show and are available to anyone (cash only), with a limit of two tickets per person. Names will be collected at the box office two hours prior to showtime. Winners must be present (with photo ID) at the box office when their names are called. "Avenue Q" runs through May 4. For more information, call 847-0850 or visit www.sheas.org. • MARK FREELAND'S FRIENDS- Martin McGee is continuing his project of recording late Buffalo musician Mark Freeland's friends and fans who want to tell their "Mark Freeland story." McGee will be recording from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at Gallery 164, 164 Allen St. David Kane will provide music. • ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS - Darien Lake Theme Park Resort is partnering with New York-based Orange County Choppers (OCC). The partnersh i p, which is the first theme park alliance for OCC, includes naming Darien Lake's newest thrill ride - a motorcycle themed roller coaster - the Orange County Choppers MotoCoaster. OCC will also build a custom bike inspired by the new ride and over al l Darien Lake theme Park Resort experience, to be featured on an upcoming episode of "American Chopper," which airs at 9 p.m. Thursdays on TLC. For more informati on , visit www.GoDarienLake.com. • SHAKESPEARE IN DELAWARE PARK - Open to area high school students, this program is designed to provide in-depth theatrical experience with theater professionals. Each session runs for five weeks, beginning the week prior to regularly scheduled performances. Applicants will be required to participate in an enrollment interview, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10. Applicants must call for an interview appointment at 856-4533. In addition, to attending classes, students gain hands-on experience in a professional production as part of SDP technical crew. Tuition is $350 per five-week session. Scholarships are available. At the end of five weeks of classes, students get to perform in a pre-show on the Shakespeare in Delaware Park stage prior to "King Lear" or "The Merry Wives of Windsor." Classes will run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and tech crew classes will be at held from 5 to 10:30 p.m Tuesday through Sunday. • STEPPING DOWN - After eight years as board president, and more than 10 years of volunteer involvement with the Central Terminal Restoration Corpor ation, Russell E. Pawlak has stepped down from the board. • ARTISTS WANTED - Artists from the Buffalo metropolitan area are invited to exhibit one of their best paintings at the international exhibition "ART METROPOLIS 2008" at the Museum of European Art in Clarence. The opening on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, will take place on the occasion of the Dedication of the Sculpture Garden of Alexander the Great, in the presence of several artists f rom Europe and Canada. The exhibit will run until Oct. 31, 2008. Receiving, with all works framed and ready for display, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 and from 1 to 6:30 p.m Wednesday, May 7.
