Earth Day in the village

The Village of Williamsville Environmental Advisory Council will hold its Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Ed Young's parking lot at Mill and Main streets. The following events have been planned for this year's theme, "Do Green":

• Presentations by members of the Williamsville Environmental Advisory Board will include the no-idle policy within the village, the use of pesticides in yards, wind energy and other environmental related subjects.

• Two eco-friendly cars will be displayed by Northtown Auto.

• The Village Farmers Market will address the benefits of buying from area farmers, and samples of compost and fertilizer will be available from the Amherst Compost Facility.

• Williamsville South High School students will distribute literature and assist with cleanup throughout the village.

• An Arbor Day sapling giveaway will include tulip trees, northern oak, white oak and other varieties.

• Musician Chris Young and his band W.A.K.O.S. will perform.

• Kevin B. Lee will give a presentation, followed by actor Leonardo DiCaprio's documentary, "The 11th Hour," from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Village Meeting House, 5658 Main St.
