• STUDENTS TO PRESENT MUSICALS - Hundreds of Buffalo-area public school students and teachers are taking a leading role in bringing the magic of theater to their schools and communities through BPS Goes Broadway, an innovative partnership between Shea's Performing Arts Center, theatrical licensor Music Theatre International and iTheatrics. This musical theater mentorship program will build sustainable arts programs in three Buffalo public schools, Highgate Heights Elementary, Houghton Academy and Waterfront Elementary. In May, Houghton Academy will present "Once On This Island Junior" at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 20 and 21.

• CONCERT RESCHEDULED - The Zuri & Power to End Stroke concert will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Niagara Falls, and 5:30 p.m. at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew on Saturday, April 26. Tickets will be honored at that time, and are $30 for the afternoon show and $40 for the evening performance. For more information, call 380-2513.

• ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS - Darien Lake Theme Park Resort is partnering with New York-based Orange County Choppers (OCC). The partnership, which is the first theme park alliance for OCC, includes naming Darien Lake's newest thrill ride - a motorcycle themed roller coaster - the Orange County Choppers MotoCoaster. OCC will also build a custom bike inspired by the new ride and overall Darien Lake theme Park Resort experience, to be featured on an upcoming episode of "American Chopper," which airs at 9 p.m. Thursdays on TLC. • THE WRITE TO BE HEARD- Shea's Performing Arts Center and the New York State Theatre Education Association will present the premiere performance of the grand prize-winning play of the student playwriting competition, "The Write To Be Heard."

This annual competition invited all students in grades 8 to 12 within a 60-mile radius of Buffalo to submit their original one-act play. This year's grand prize-winning play, "Being What We Are" will be premiered at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Shea's Performing Arts Center's Smith Theatre, 660 Main St., Buffalo. The play was written by Meredith A. Jones, a student from Hamburg High School. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID and will be available at the door. 829-1152, jfitzery@sheas.org

• CALL FOR ARTISTS - As a benefit for WNY artists and VOICE-Buffalo, a not-for-profit organization, is looking for artists to enter 2-D and 3-D works of art for their third annual Juried Silent and Live Art Auction with a wine and cheese reception and music at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave. All artists can choose to ask for a commission on the sale price of their donated works. Receiving, with all works framed and ready for display, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 and from 1 to 6:30 p.m Wednesday, May 7. • DARIEN LAKE THEME PARK - The theme park is set to open on May 3 with a new roller coaster, new live entertainment, a new general manager and ne w lower pricing. The new roller coaster, "MotoCoaster," launches from zero to more than 35 miles per hour in three seconds. Riders will ricochet around Figure 8s and turn on a dime as they swoop over 1,100 feet of track. Three new live shows have been added throughout the park, "An Alarming Adventure," "Rhythmnicity" and "LaserBlast." For more information, visit www.GoDarienLake.com.
