Meetings Electronics recycling day set in Buffalo In celebration of Earth Day 2008, Erie County and the City of Buffalo will hold a computer and electronics recycling drop-off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Central Park Plaza on Holden Street in Buffalo. Items accepted free of charge will help keep lead from poisoning landfills. The previous recycling event held in January at the Buffalo Zoo resulted in 18 tons of material recovered. Three-day legal conference scheduled A three-day pro bono legal conference will take place in Buffalo this weekend, beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 24, with a conference at the Main-Seneca Building, 327 Main St. At 6 p.m., Deborah Rhode will speak about ways to make the best use of private lawyers' pro bono efforts. The conference continues with events all day Friday in the University at Buffalo Law School located in the Baldy Center, including a 1 p.m. presentation by Karen Mathis titled "A Second Season of Service." ATHENA Award ceremony slated by Partnership The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is again joining the Western New York Women's Fund in presenting the 19th annual ATHENA Award ceremony. The ATHENA Award honors an individual who through her professional experience, dedicated community service and support for the goals of professional women, has contributed significantly to the status of women in the Buffalo and Niagara region. It will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, 2 Fountain Plaza. |
