A Wok restaurant under new ownership China native Jason Zulin came to Amherst to attend the University at Buffalo and upon graduation reopened the Chinese restaurant in the Quality Plaza at Main Street and Union Road. A Wok Chinese Restaurant boasts an extensive menu created by De Yun Wang, who has more than 20 years experience as a chef. Zulin took over ownership about four months ago and kept Wang as the restaurant's chef. "I opened this restaurant because I wanted to stay at Buffalo and I had all the resources and experiences to start a restaurant business," he said. He first came to the area eight years ago to attend UB. He graduated in 2007 with a degree in accounting. A Wok has several special dishes and menu items, including Pad Thai, which is stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice and red chili pepper, plus any combination of bean sprouts, shrimp, chicken, or tofu, garnished with crushed peanuts and coriander. Zulin said he and Wang wanted to add Thai entrees to their menu. In addition to a list of lunch specials, A Wok has 99-cent scoops in a buffet setting. "We have been able to keep prices low," he said, adding that the location also makes it an attractive spot for customers. The restaurant is located at 5268 Main St., at the corner of Union Road. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Call 565-2068. |
