Romona Popowich, president of the Williamsville Central School District Board of Education, testified before the New York State Commission on Property Tax Relief on April 2. Headed by Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi, the commission is charged with looking at the causes of high property taxes in the state and studying the feasibility of a cap on the tax levy imposed by school districts.

Colin Knoer, a student at Williamsville North High School, was awarded third place in the annual poetry contest for high school students sponsored by the Humanities Institute in the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences. Approximately 560 students in the United States, Canada and overseas submitted entries.
