Stumpf's Strauss wins state balance beam crown

Alyssa Billitier, far left, Kristen Kelly, Taylor Strauss, Sara Lund and Kat Scimia fared well at the 14-year-old session of the Level 7 New York State Championships. Strauss won a state title on the balance beam.

Taylor Strauss scored a state-best 9.30 on balance beam at the 14-year-old session of the Level 7 New York State Championships. Strauss also took seventh on vault, eighth on bars and won silver in all-around (36.200).

Alyssa Billittier placed fourth on beam with a 9.125. She also posted a 10th place finish on bars and ended 12th in the state in all-around.

Sara Lund won a pair of eighth-place medals on bars and floor, Kristen Kelly finished 14th on vault and 16th on beam and Kat Scimia went 8.50 on vault.
