Admiral to speak during Armed Forces Week

Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, will speak at the annual Western New York Armed Forces Week luncheon at noon Thursday, May 8 in the Connecticut Street Armory, 184 Connecticut St., Buffalo.

The cost of the luncheon, to include members of the uniformed services, business and government leaders and the general public, is $25.

This year's celebration will begin with an opening ceremony on Sunday, May 4 at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park, One Naval Park Cove, Buffalo. The program includes a performance by the American Legion Band of Tonawanda at 12:45 p.m. and a military flyover at 1 p.m.

The U.S. Navy will host the event, which will recognize all branches of the services, those on active duty, veterans and families of those serving in the military.

Armed Forces Week will conclude with a military ball at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 10, also at the Armory. Tickets cost $30. All tickets are available until April 29 at the Navy Operational Support Center, 3 Porter Ave., Buffalo.
