Motorcycle accident claims life of East Amherst man Amherst police are continuing to investigate the cause of a fatal accident that was reported Sunday on Interstate 990. According to Capt. Patrick McKenna, a motorcycle operated by Peter F. Frazon, 44, of East Amherst, was northbound on I-990, just north of Interstate 290, when the 1979 Honda went down and slid into a guardrail on the east side of the road. Frazon was transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital, where he died from his injuries. "A witness reported seeing the motorcycle wobble before falling on its side, and sliding across the road," McKenna said. Frazon did not have a motorcycle license at the time of the accident. Senior Investigator Terrence Walsh continues to review the incident. McKenna said the department is investigating the possibility of a mechanical failure. The Amherst Accident Investigation Unit responded to a second motorcycle accident on Monday, April 7. Jeffery S. Wojcik, 38, of North Tonawanda, was operating a motorcycle on Niagara Falls Boulevard when a vehicle driven by Colleen M. Niro, 43, of Wilson, pulled onto the boulevard from Irwin Road, striking Wojcik. He suffered a severe leg injury and was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Twin City Ambulance. He remains at ECMC undergoing treatment. Niro, who was not injured, was issued a summons for failure to yield. Senior Investigators Carl Fischer and James Quigley continue to work on the accident. |
