Marissa Polino, a third-grader at Christ the King School in Snyder, was named a 2008 state winner for the 17th annual Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest. She was chosen from more than 177,000 entries, representing students from grades one through eight from across the country. She was judged on cursive abilities.

Williamsville Special Education Parent Teacher Student Association is hosting a forum about stress and anxiety in children at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Forest Elementary School, 250 N. Forest Road, Williamsville. The panel will provide information on the signs and symptoms of childhood stress and anxiety, what is done in Williamsville schools, what parents can do at home, and when and how to seek professional help.
