Lauer-Manguso & Associates Architects, located in Amherst, was the architect on Evans National Bank's new branch at 925 Elmwood Ave., at West Delavan, in Buffalo. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2008, the new location will be Evans National Bank's 12th branch in Western New York. James Manguso Sr., principal of Lauer-Manguso, said the new bank design is a departure from the current more traditional style branches and will exhibit more contemporary features.

Wende Birtch of Williamsville was promoted to executive coordinator as an independent distributor for Market America, an innovative product brokerage and Internet marketing company.

The Parachute Group, a networking group for individuals who are in career/job transition and for people who have lost their jobs, meets at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, community room No. 1. Guest speakers range from professionals in the outplacement industry, who provide tips on resume writing and interviewing techniques, to former group members who come back after they have found jobs to share tips and ideas for finding the next job/position. The Amherst Chamber of Commerce will hold its Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Buffalo Brew Pub, 6861 Main St., at Transit Road. The event is free for Amherst Chamber members. Nonmembers are invited to attend for a $25 fee. Reservations are required by noon April 15. The walk-in fee is $5.
