UBAM Swim Club to host team tryout

The UB Amherst Swim Club will host a new swimmer tryout from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4 at Williamsville North High School, 1505 Hopkins Rd., Williamsville.

UBAM is a national goal oriented USS Swim Club for swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18 and up.

Originally known as the Amherst Swim Club, UBAM has produced many of the area's premier swimmers including former state record holder John Hodge and Olympic medalist Gordon Downey. Since 2000, six UBAM swimmers have claimed New York State high school titles.

This past season, UBAM finish amongst the top 10 percent of all United States Swim Clubs in USA Swimming's Virtual Club Championship.

UBAM also has a learn-to-swim program that teaches nearly 1000 swimmers a year.
