Richard D. Curtis, 79 of Amherst, died Monday, March 24, 2008 in Hospice Buffalo.

Born June 5, 1928 in Sidney, N.Y., he was a graduate of Sidney High School and Ithaca College and served in the Navy. Mr. Curtis worked at Williamsville South High School for 20 years as the physical education teacher, coach and athletic director.

Mr. Curtis was a member of Amherst Avenue of Athletes, Sidney Athletic High School Hall of Fame, Groton High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a coach and a longtime starter at the Audubon Golf Course.

He is survived by sons, David and Andrew; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Curtis is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; and sibling, Skip.

Services were held on March 27 at Christ the King Church. Arrangements were by the Dietrich Funeral Home.
