Gun taken off the streets For the second time in as many weeks, Amherst police have recovered a gun during a traffic stop. Officer Jason Coyle stopped a vehicle on the 3700 block of Main Street at 2:50 a.m. March 26 for being operated without headlights or a front license plate. Upon interviewing the driver, Coyle noted that he appeared nervous. According to the police report, the driver, Franklin Cooke, 23, told Coyle he had marijuana and gave permission to the officer to search the vehicle. The suspect then reportedly admitted to having a gun in the vehicle. Coyle recovered a 32-caliber revolver. Cooke, of Buffalo, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and two vehicle and traffic charges. Drugs were not found in the vehicle by the arresting officer. |
