YMCA offers Healthy Family Home program The Northeast Family YMCA will soon launch its Healthy Family Home Program, which is free to the entire community. Healthy Family Home was established by the YMCA and Eli Lilly and Company and seeks to support a family's efforts to be healthy in ways that are practical and rooted in practices proven to work for real people. Beginning Tuesday, April 15 and continuing until Dec. 2, the Northeast YMCA will be providing events on the first Tuesday of every month as part of this new program. The Healthy Family Home Program will run from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst.
The schedule of events slated in the coming months are: "By making simple, healthier choices in their everyday lives, even the busiest of families can change unhealthy habits and improve their quality of life," said Jody Hares, program director for the Northeast Family YMCA. "I feel this program is so important because it brings the whole family together, working as a team to create change. With the current health crisis in America, busy families need resources to help them take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle." The program has been developed to help families across America with children ages 5-12 assess and modify their home behaviors and environments to better support and sustain an improved quality of health and well-being.
