Rob Schwartz of Williamsville is featured in Aurora Players' upcoming production of "Born Yesterday," opening April 4 at the Roycroft Pavilion in Hamlin Park off South Grove St. in East Aurora.
Performances of "Born Yesterday" will be held at 8 p.m., April 4, 5, 11, 12 and 18 with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m., April 6, 13 and 19. For reservations, call 687-6727.
The show may be familiar to movie buffs from the 1950 Hollywood version featuring Broderick Crawford, William Holden and Judy Holliday.
Written by renowned playwright Garson Kanin, it tells an often humorous, sometimes romantic story of a corrupt tycoon who brings his showgirl mistress with him to Washington when he tries to buy a congressman. He hires a journalist to educate his girlfriend, and in the process, she learns just how corrupt her boyfriend is.
"Although it is described as a comedy, there are some serious issues for the audience and the actors to consider," Schwartz said, who will play Ed Devery.
He was most recently seen with the East Aurora-based theatre troupe in 2007 as Jack Jerome in its production of Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs," a role for which he won the group's 2007 Best Featured Actor Award.
This performance will mark the award-winning theatre group's first production in the newly renovated Roycroft Pavilion in Hamlin Park.
