Ettaro's launches lunch menu
Located at 602 Grover Cleveland Highway, at Longmeadow and Eggert, Ettaro's added its lunch menu this week. The meals are served from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Chef and owner Nick Ettaro said he designed the menu from dishes his family has enjoyed for years. "Working in a restaurant is something I have done all my life," he said. "These recipes have been handed down." He said he is keeping with the Italian theme of the bakery and staying away from menu items that can be found anywhere. Every dish is homemade. Ettaro has designed a menu of specialty sandwiches, which includes breaded eggplant with a pepper marinara sauce, chicken breast in Italian crumbs with provolone cheese and red sauce, and meatball bomber with cheese and sauce, each served on an Italian crusty roll. His soup specialities are Italian wedding, lentil and beef vegetable. Salads are also available. While lunch is new, Ettaro's has been serving dinners on Sundays. From 3 to 6 p.m. it is pasta night. A different pasta is featured each week and served with Ettaro's sauce and garlic toast. Meatballs and sausage can be added. John Ryan, co-owner of Ettaro's, said the sauce is available for purchase, based on the numerous requests they receive. Opened 18 months ago, Ettaro's fills a void that existed in that area of town, Ettaro said. "There are speciality bakeries in East Amherst and other areas of town but not in Eggertsville," he said. Creating Italian cookies, cakes and other delicacies, Ettaro's offers a quaint seating area to enjoy a dessert with a wide variety of coffees and teas. Catering for special events, such as showers and weddings, is also available. Hours of operation for the bakery are noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
