CCA wins Eastern Suburbs Girls Basketball championship

Christian Central Academy defeated St. Mary's of Swormville, 35-28, on Feb. 15 to win the Eastern Suburbs Girls Basketball Championship. Christian Central Academy's Kayla Burt and Rachel Cook scored 23 and 12 points, respectively, to hold off St. Mary's of Swormville, 35-28, on Feb. 15 to win the Eastern Suburbs Girls Basketball Championship.

In the first half, CCA was sparked defensively by Carly Foster, Erin Kelly and Savannah Young.

Rachel Cook began the third quarter with a three-point play off a fast break, and Burt followed with consecutive steals and jump shots from the right corner. CCA was also benefited by key fourth-quarter steals by Ashley Farrow and several blocks by Kelly and Young.

CCA and St. Mary's finished with 11-2 records.
