County golf permits on sale

Local golfers can now purchase their 2008 Erie County golf permits for Grover Cleveland and Elma Meadows golf courses.

New permits are available for purchase at the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry located in the Rath Building, 95 Franklin Street, 13th Floor, Buffalo. Interested golfers must purchase their permits in person from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Picture identification and a check or money order are required at the time of purchase; cash or credit will not be accepted.

Golfers looking to renew their permits can do so by mail by visiting www.erie.gov/parks for a printable application form.

Erie County is also offering youth golfers the opportunity to participate in a PGA golf camp at Elma Meadows this summer. The camp is open to junior boys and girls ages 7 to 17. Registration forms and additional information can be found at www.erie.gov/parks.

The county's golf course facilities are also available for rent on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the summer. To book a tournament at Grover Cleveland or Elma Meadows, send your request to Erie County Parks Department, Attention Dean Jewart, 95 Franklin Street, Room 1359, Buffalo, NY 14202.

The letter to request course reservations must contain:
• The organization or group name
• A contact name, phone number and address
• The date requested
• The total number of players (shotgun starts are available with
minimum of 100 golfers at Elma Meadows and 64 at Grover
Cleveland)
• The tee times requested.
