Northeast YMCA Sharks swim team breaks record at state meet

The Northeast YMCA Sharks Swim Team was represented by 20 swimmers at the NYS YMCA Swim Championships March 14-16 at Eisenhauer Park pool in Long Island.
8 and under
Sammy Nagy (sixth, 25 breast; 15th, 100 IM; 16th, 25 fly) and Camryn Sullivan (10th, 25 breast; 13th, 25 free; 16th, 50 free) led the group.
Caroline Smith (25 back, 25 free, 25 fly); Anna Zarzecki (25 free, 25 breast); and Savannah Revelas (25 free) also competed.
Nagy, Sullivan, Smith, and Zarzecki combined for eighth in the 200 medley relay and 12th in the 100 free relay.
Jonathan Zarzecki (100 IM, 25 free, 25 breast) and Nick Revelas (25 free) combined with Patrick Smith and Jacob Zarzecki in the 10 and under 200 medley and free relays.
9-10
Eilis Johnson swam to eighth in the 50 fly and 16th in the 100 IM and 100 free.
Kendal Smith (50 free) teamed up with Johnson, Arianna Revelas and Savannah Revelas in the 200 medley relay.
Jacob Zarzecki had impressive swims led by a sixth place in the 50 back and 13th in the 50 free. He also swam the 100 free.
11-12 Siobhan Johnson swam the 50 free.
Senior girls
Alex Skomra, Kaelyn Sullivan, Kerri Bubar, and Michelle Niblock broke the YMCA record in the 400 free relay and placed 10th.
Other individual events the four competed in were: Skomra (50 free, 100 free, 100 back; Sullivan (50 free); Bubar (100 free, 100 fly) and Niblock (50 free, 100 free, 100 fly).
Courtney Denk just missed semifinals in the 100 breast.
Bubar, Kinsey Kolega, Hannah Bleichfeld, and Siobhan Johnson competed in the open 200 medley relay.
Niblock, Bleichfeld, and Bubar were among seniors throughout the state who were honored for years of dedication to YMCA swimming.
The team is coached by Bill Niblock, Kim Skomra, Rich Bleichfeld, Ric Marable, Debbie Sullivan, Ashley Schubert, and Mike Giancarlo.
