John T. Leader, 81, of Amherst, died Thursday, March 20, 2008. He was born in Buffalo on Oct. 26, 1926 and was the director of data processing for the Buffalo Board of Education for 31 years, retiring in 1985.

He attended Erie Community College and was in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. Mr. Leader was a member of American Legion Post 431, was active with the Republican Party and was a member and received the Medal of Merit from Ronald Reagan from the Republican Presidential Task Force. He enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Aida; daughters, Juana Gonzalez and Addie Cruz; son, Jr. Cruz; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 24 at the Sheridan Chapel of the Amigone Funeral Home Inc.
