Renee LaPlante, a senior at Sweet Home High School, has been awarded a $14,000 Daemen College Trustee Scholarship. The newly created Trustee Scholarships are Daemen's most prestigious academic scholarship awards. LaPlante competed with more than 100 other students.

Jacob Artist, 15, of Williamsville has been awarded a full dance scholarship to attend Chautauqua Institute in the summer for a seven-week dance program. He auditioned in January with applicants from around the United States.

Lucas Magnini, a senior at Williamsville North High School, raised $1,040 for the Buffalo Zoo and its elephant house. He selected the fundraising task as his Senior Inquiry Project and held a benefit dinner on March 16 at Banchetti's to raise money. He is president of the Student Council and will be attending Michigan State University this fall.
