Waterford Village Bank celebrates one-year anniversary

Western New York's newest community bank celebrated one year in business last month.

Waterford Village Bank, which opened in February 2007, is a state-chartered and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation-insured community bank located at 8411 Main St., Clarence.

The bank was founded by Kathleen Kiesel Flemming, a native of the Williamsville area, and fellow neighbors from Waterford Investors Inc., Len LoVullo, Lisa Wardynski, Jeff Palumbo, Mark Longo, Duane Paddock and the late Anthony Renaldo.

"Opening a bank in my hometown has been a dream of mine for years," said Flemming. "One of our goals is to help inspire our youth to realize their dreams right here in Western New York. We have a banking program that we teach in area schools."

Eileen Buzzard, a certified teacher and Waterford Village Bank employee, educates elementary, middle and high school students in Clarence and Williamsville on "Getting Smart about Credit," "Teaching Kids to Save" and how to "Budget for the Future."

"I would like to thank all the wonderful individuals, families and businesses that stopped by and opened a relationship with us our first year," Flemming said.

More than 1,500 customers were added in 2007 and $51 million in assets.

Waterford Village Bank offers a full range of financial services to families, individuals, private banking customers and small to medium sized business owners. For information, call 639-2000 or visit www. waterfordvillagebank. com.
