St. Mary's hoopsters win consolation game

The St. Mary's Swormville fifth-grade girls basketball team beat St. Mark's, 12-10, in the consolation game of the Holy Hoopsters League playoffs. Members of the team, pictured from left, are: first row - Shannon McNulty, Abby Schule, Nicole Zucarelli, Catherine Almeter, Ashley Barry; second row - Anna Pazik, Hannah Davis, Shannon Stockman, Leah Bellitto, Anne Principe, Megan Gullo; third row - coaches Bill Davis, Russ Gullo and Dave Principe.
The St. Mary's Swormville fifth-grade girls basketball team beat St. Mark's, 12-10, in the consolation game of the Holy Hoopsters League playoffs.

St. Mary's opened a 12-6 lead in the second half and St. Mark's almost sent the game to overtime with a last second shot.

Leah Bellitto led with ten points and Ashley Barry scored two points.

St. Mary's, which consisted of fifth and fourth graders, finished third out of ten teams in the fifth-grade division of the Holy Hoopster League and compiled a 13-3 overall record. Bellitto led the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game for the season.
