Amherst Dyngus Day celebration to be held

On Monday, March 24, the Town of Amherst will celebrate Dyngus Day at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, thanks to a donation from Council Member Deborah Bruch Bucki.

"As a Polish American, I am proud once again this year to sponsor Amherst's official Dyngus Day party," said Bucki. "It is a great way to continue the celebration of the Easter season with Polish food, music and culture."

At noon Monday, the Center for Senior Services, located at 370 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst, will serve a luncheon including stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes and a doughnut dessert. At 1 p.m., the Knewz will perform polka favorites for partygoers' listening and dancing pleasure.

Reservations are suggested for the luncheon but are not necessary for those who wish to attend only the free Knewz performance.

To make a reservation for the luncheon, contact the Center for Senior Services at 639-3059 by Friday, March 21. The center suggests a donation of $2.25 to defray the cost of the meal.
