Town Centre best for former gun club

If Town Centre is built, realistic traffic counts will be available for Maple, a county road. Then the highway officials can create a design for efficient traffic flow and pedestrian safety.

Some residents interested in saving gasoline or getting exercise, or especially youths without cars, will soon utilize the pedestrian crossing to Town Centre, the new park, the bike path, Pepsi Center and University at Buffalo. The "big box" stores that require automobile transportation are not located in Town Centre.

Think of this project as a "college town" commonly adjacent to most great universities. Benderson Development Co. is spending money and creating construction jobs in anticipation of the expanding enrollment of UB, within easy walking distance to Town Centre.

The site plan may not be fully acceptable to a dedicated environmentalist. However, without the financing from the failed green-space bond, there is no chance of having a 35-acre park. The Benderson plan offered is the best that we can expect to get. No one else has even offered a practical alternative.

The Town Board should base its vote on the proctorial reality of Town Centre. It is useful, logical, practical, and the most sensible use of this property.
