Man allegedly forces way into home, faces felony charges

Amherst police responded to October Lane late Friday where an 18-year-old man had allegedly forced his way into a home and assaulted those inside.

Paul Tagliarino, of October Lane, has been charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, burglary and menacing.

According to Assistant Chief Timothy Green, Tagliarino went to the residence at 11:30 p.m., knocked on the door, and forced his way inside. He reportedly started a fight with some of the residents inside, allegedly attempting to assault one with an illegal knife.

Green said Tagliarino's motive was unknown, and at the time of the incident it appeared he had been drinking. The arresting officer was Robert McMahon.

Tagliarino was arraigned on Saturday and held on $25,000 cash or $100,000 bond. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and is due back in court on March 20.
