St. Benedict's boys win Bishop Kmiec fourth-fifth grade league title

The St. Benedict's fourth-fifth grade boys basketball team defeated Covenant Academy, 18-17, to win the Bishop Kmiec fourth, fifth grade division league championship. Members of the team, pictured from left, are: first row - Will Boerma, Brendon DesRosiers, Mike Feeley, Jeremiah Westbrook, Brendon Feeley; second row - Anthony Maisano, Devon Florczak, Sean Andrews, Joey Whittman, Vincent Gregory, Mike Tenney, Ian Braungart; third row - coaches Mike Feeley, Tom Andrews, Mike Florczak and Joe Whittman.
The St. Benedict's fourth-fifth grade boys basketball team defeated Covenant Academy, 18-17, to win the Bishop Kmiec fourth, fifth grade division league championship.

Joey Whittman (six points) scored the winning basket to seal the victory with less than 15 seconds remaining.

Will Boerma and Jeremiah Westbrook each scored six points to complete the scoring for St. Benedict's.

The rest of the team, consisting of fifth-graders, Devon Florczak and Vincent Gregory, and fourth-graders Sean Andrews, Anthony Maisano, Michael Tenney, Ian Braungart, Brendon and Michael Feeley and Brendon DesRosiers, kept Covenant in check during the game with timely rebounds, steals and great defense.

St. Benedict's finishes the season 10-6 and came in second at the Park School tournament during the season.
