Oregon tops Oregon State for sixth-grade boys title

Oregon avenged a 14-point loss and defeated Oregon State, 44-34, for the Amherst Youth Basketball sixth-grade boys championship. Oregon State beat Oregon by 14 points earlier in the week but Oregon won the rematch, 44-34, in the sixth-grade boys Amherst Youth Basketball finals.

Oregon led, 18-12, at halftime. Brandon Hill made 10 of 12 free throws and finished with a season high 14 points.

Fors (nine), Casey Davis (seven), Ben Sharf (six) and Ryan Woods and Zaprowski (four points each) added balanced scoring. Fred Clabo and Dan Mayers turned in their best defensive efforts.

Brady (game-high 19 points), Matt Macomber (four), Ryan Czerwinski (three), and Ben Clement (two) led Oregon State. Jonathan Hall and Joe Unanov contributed strong games.

These two teams met earlier in the week with Oregon winning by three.

Washington State held a 20-19 halftime advantage. The score was tied, 35-35, at the end of regulation.

Casey Davis made a two-point basket in overtime that proved to be the game winner.

Washington State had the ball at half court with 3.9 seconds left, but strong defense by Oregon preserved the victory.

Washington State's Jacob Sieracki scored 27 points.

Oregon was led by Ben Scharf (16), Davis (11), Dan Mayers (four), and Fred Clabo, Mitch Fors and Brandon Hill (two each).
