Ronald L. Witnauer, former superintendent of highways

Ronald L. Witnauer, 65, of East Amherst, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 in Hospice Buffalo.

Born in Amherst, Mr. Witnauer graduated from DeSales High School in Lockport. He worked as the superintendent of highways in Clarence from 1995 to 2004.

Mr.Witnauer wasthe presidentof Witnauer Trucking, Dump Truck Association and Erie County Highway Superintendents' Association. He was also president and captain of the Clarence Auxiliary Police, president of Dande Farms Men's Golf League and coached Clarence baseball for 13 years, being the equipment manager for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Thomas and John; his daughter, Susan Calandra; his brother, James; and his sisters, Donna Denk and Janet Schaffer.

Services were held Tuesday, March 4 at St. Mary's Church, Swormville. Arrangements were by the Urban Brothers Funeral Home.
