Suneel's Light receives grant from Kelly for Kids Foundation

In a donation ceremony held recently at Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant, Kelly for Kids Foundation awarded Suneel's Light a $1,500 grant to assist the Amherst- based foundation in its continued efforts to find a cure for Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy.

Suneel's Light is a charitable foundation whose namesake is a 10-year-old boy who suffers from Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. The foundation was established to fund research for treatments and a cure for Duchenne's, the most lethal genetic childhood disease. Duchenne's targets young boys without regard to ethnicity and leads to death from respiratory or heart failure by their early 20s.

Without a breakthrough in ongoing medical research and treatment, there is little hope that Suneel and other children like him will live to adulthood.
