Walter
Raymond W. Walter of East Amherst has been hired as an associate by the law firm of Magavern Magavern Grimm LLP. His background combines legal and business experience, he was a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office, Western District.

John Mitchell was named branch leader of HUNT Real Estate's newly established Williamsville Village office. He will be leading the initial group of agents at the branch, combined with the Clarence branch. He will develop and oversee shortand long-term tactical plans for the village branch. He was a leading Williamsville/Clarence branch's sales agent.

Kathy Hoelscher Glieco of Williamsville was recently elected to the Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross board of directors.. She will serve a three-year term. Glieco is director of marketing communications at Independent Health.

Todd M. Scherrer of Williamsville was named a partner in Szymkowiak & Associates's Assurance and Advisory Services Department. He joined the company in 2005 as a director. Prior, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP for 12 years. Sherrer maintains CPA licenses in six states. Szymkowiak & Associates is located in Amherst.

Rajan Batta, associate dean for graduate studies, school of engineering and applied sciences, and professor of industrial and systems engineering with the University at Buffalo, was elected as senior vice president of publication for the board of trustees of the Institute of Industrial Engineers headquartered in metro Atlanta.

Esther Joseph of Williamsville has been named manager of distribution operations for American Sales Company, the health/beauty care and general merchandise distributor for Ahold USA. She has been with Ahold since 1998, holding several positions, including lead inventory control manager.

Attorney Michael M. Chelus of Amherst has been elected to the board of directors of the WNY Trial Lawyers Association. He will serve a two-year term. Chelus is an associate with the law firm of Chelus, Herdzik, Speyer & Monte, P.C., where he focuses his practice on insurance defense litigation, insurance coverage, trials and appeals.

Herbert J. Glose of Amherst has joined the Buffalo office of Hiscock & Barclay as a partner in the firm's corporate practice area. He has more than 20 years of legal experience, and is chair of the Municipal and School Law Committee of the Erie County Bar Association.

Les Robinson has been selected for inclusion in the 2008-09 edition of Montclair Publishing's "Who's Who among Executives and Professionals." He is an insurance professional with The Northwoods Insurance Corporation in Williamsville, where he specializes in business insurance sales.

Julie A. Doerr has been named public relations manager at Carr Marketing Communications, a marketing communications consulting firm, in Amherst. She will work with Carr clients in the areas of financial services, healthcare and cultural marketing. She was a public relations account executive at an advertising agency.

Michael Lin, president of Sonic Blinds Inc. of Amherst, a member of the Exciting Windows! network of service professionals, was recognized as the 2007 Sales Leader of the Year for managed business. This is the second consecutive year he has won the award. He was recognized for bringing his company's revenue to more than $1.2 million, a record amongst his peers at Exciting Windows!

Patrick Slade of Amherst has joined Chelus, Herdzik, Speyer & Monte, P.C. as an associate. He will handle litigation files, as well as general practice matters. He received his juris doctor in 2007 from the University at Buffalo.
