St. Benedict's boys wins St. Mary's of Lancaster tourney

The St. Benedict's boys varsity basketball team beat Queen of Heaven, 43-34, to win The Chris Griswold Memorial Basketball Tournament sponsored by St. Mary's High School of Lancaster this past week. Members of the team, pictured from left, are: first row - Jimmy Croglio, Colin Tenney, Matt MacDonald, Bobby Graczyk, Joey Insalaco; second row - coach Kevin McCormack, Brendan Tenney, Coach Ty Benton, Sam Insalaco, Dylan Blujus, Denzel Benton, Frankie Divito, Jamal Davis, Marc DiLeo; missing from photo - Anthony Miller and Patrick MacDonald.
The St. Benedict's boys varsity basketball team won The Chris Griswold Memorial Basketball Tournament sponsored by St. Mary's High School of Lancaster this past week.

Tournament MVP Dylan Blujus scored 18 points as the Tigers beat Queen of Heaven in the championship game, 43-34.

Brendan Tenney scored seven points and Sam Insalaco added six to break open a close game in the third quarter. Marc DiLeo, Jamal Davis, Matt MacDonald and Denzel Benton all scored for St. Benedict's during a 15-3 run to start the second half.

St. Benedict's (27-1) had to win four games in six days to win the tournament, defeating St. Vincent's of Elma, Depew Middle School and Notre Dame to get to the championship game.

During those games, the Tigers got solid guard play from Bobby Graczyk, Jimmy Croglio, Colin Tenney and Joey Insalaco and great rebounding from Frankie Divito and Patrick MacDonald.

In addition to Blujus, Sam Insalaco was named to the all-tournament team.
