Boehm named Female Athlete of the Week twice St. John Fisher College senior Allison Boehm, a Sacred Heart Academy graduate and Cheektowaga resident, has been named the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the weeks ending Feb. 17 and 24. The 5-foot-11 guard/forward averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week for Fisher. Fisher earned the fourth and final seed into the Empire 8 Conference Championship, marking the 31st time in the 34-year history of the program that Fisher has made an appearance in the postseason. The Cardinals opened the week last Friday with 76-52 against Utica College. Boehm notched 11 points and seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. In the regular season finale on Saturday, Fisher topped host Hartwick College 71-68, and received the No. 4 seed after Elmira College knocked Rochester Institute of Technology out of contention on Sunday afternoon. Boehm scored a game-high 20 points, and grabbed eight rebounds. For the week of Feb. 17, Boehm led the Cardinals to a victory over visiting Elmira College and averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over that span. In a loss to Ithaca College on Feb. 16, Boehm became the 19th player in the 34-year history of the program to break the 1,000-point barrier with a traditional three-point play in the second half. Boehm scored 15 points, hauled in nine rebounds, and dished out four assists in Rochester Institute of Technology's 65-57 comeback win over the Cardinals on Feb. 12. The Cardinals turned things around on Feb. 15 and posted a 74-53 win over the Elmira College Soaring Eagles. Boehm tallied 11 points, four rebounds and four assists for Fisher. Against Ithaca College, the senior topped the 1,000-point mark for her career, and finished the contest with a team-high 17 points, including a perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line. The senior leads Fisher and ranks among the Conference leaders in scoring (18.0 points per game), rebounding (9.1 rebounds per game), and three-point shooting percentage (45.5 percent) on the season. Boehm scored a career-high 33 points, including 22 in the first half, in the St. John Fisher College's women's basketball team's 84-65 loss to host Stevens Institute of Technology in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament on Friday night. |
