Knights vault into top spot
Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group

The Junior division saw a new leader and the Major division saw more of the same last Saturday in Buffalo In-line Hockey League Group.

The Blackhawks have been on top of the Major division since opening week and the only thing that changed for them was that they had to go to a shootout in order to beat the Crush.

The Crush got late third period goals form Dan Dziuba (Amherst) and Ryan Okon (Lancaster) to tie the game at 6-6. Kristian Knoell (Clarence) scored the game winner in the shootout.

The Knights jumped into sole possession of first place with a 9-3 win over the Capitals. Matt Dickinson (Amherst) and Josh Rankin led the Knights. It was the sixth win in a row for the new leaders. In other Major division action:

Vikings 7, Warriors 6

David Campuzano scored twice late in the third period to give him four in the game and the Vikings the win. Chad Loughran (Amherst) was strong for the Vikings. Edgar Rosario (Kenmore) played well in the loss.

Killer Pandas 11, Snipers 9

The Pandas got an outstanding offensive effort from John Lyons (Amherst) and Zac Carslisle to offset the play of Evan Dressel (Amherst) and Eric Wright and pick up this win. These four players were responsible for 19 of the 20 goals scored.

Firestorm 10, Stealth 4

Brad Owns' (Tonawanda) had a double hat trick, including the first four of the game and Brett Davidson had another solid game in net.

Red Snappers 12, Mulecats 4

Major division points leader Taylor Setlock (Tonawanda) led the offensive onslaught. Doug Smith (Cheektowaga) scored three for the Cats.

Junior division

The Gladiators got strong efforts from Nicky Antoniadis, Ben Speyer and Drew Harmon to get the win.

Orangemen 6, Penguins 5

The Orange got shootout goals from Jacob Schrieber and Tyler Arnot to counter four from Zac Wieand.

Maroons 8, Devils 7
