Gladys Weiss, developing team member of World War II P-38 fighter plane

Gladys Weiss of Cheektowaga died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008.

Mrs. Weiss was a lifelong member of the Christian Mothers Sodality of Mother of Divine Grace Church, Home Bureau and the Cousins Club.

In her 20s, she was an avid ice skater who frequently was compared to Olympian Sonja Henie in style and technique.

She worked at Bell Aerospace where she was a team member in developing the P-38 fighter plane of World War II.

Mrs. Weiss is survived by sons Joseph, Jeffrey and Jim; daughter Janet; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and son Ronald. Services were held Tuesday at Dietrich Funeral Home.
