North grad named head delegate of Model UN team

Hammer
Amherst native Adam Hammer has been chosen as the head delegate for the Mercyhurst College Model UN for 2007-08 and will travel to Mexico this month.

Having won awards of excellence in competitions in the mid-Atlantic Model UN Nations Consortium in 2007, Hammer was selected with four other students to represent Mercyhurst College in the Harvard World Model UN Conference being held from March 24-28 in Puebla, Mexico.

The Mercyhurst team will represent Ukraine, with Hammer as head delegate.

Hammer is a 2005 graduate of Williamsville North High School and is a junior at Mercyhurst, located in Erie, Pa. He is a dual major in political science and economics and is the current president of the Young Republicans. Hammer has been interviewed by the Erie television and press for his views and comments on the upcoming elections.

Model UN allows college students to participate in a simulation of the practices, actions and debates of the United Nations. Each year, 1,650 students from 42 counties attend the World UN in a different location around the world.
