Justin Hooper and Robyn Thornton

Robbye and Bob Thornton of East Amherst announce the engagement of their daughter, Robyn Thornton, to Justin Hooper, son of Suzanne Hooper of Littleton, Colo., and Ron Hooper of Tucson, Ariz.

Miss Thornton graduated from Williamsville East High School in 1992. She received a bachelor's degree in social work and psychology from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., and a master's degree in social work from George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a licensed clinical social worker at a state psychiatric hospital in St. Louis.

Her fiance graduated from Blue Valley North High School in Overton Park, Kan., in 1992. He received bachelor's degrees in chemistry and in materials science and engineering and a master's degree in materials science, all from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He received a doctorate of philosophy in material science and engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

A March 2008 wedding is planned.
