Help needed to find reckless driver My thanks go out to the driver who ran me off the road Friday, Feb. 22, and accelerated away, while my car careened out of control. Just after 12:30 p.m. I was traveling on Youngs Road in my green Subaru Legacy. This driver pulled out in a dark blue, second generation Ford Explorer across my lane, yards in front of me, to turn left. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, forcing me into a spin and skidding backwards off the road. Don't worry, thoughtful Explorer driver, a fire hydrant stopped me. My purpose is not to embarrass and ridicule the individual for displaying such arrogance and utter disregard for others by callously running away … though it should. Nor am I trying to appeal to this self-absorbed, narcissistic person's good nature to take responsibility … if the person had any decency at all, this letter would not exist. I am asking for help in finding this driver. My two kind witnesses were unable to catch the license plate as the Explorer fled. I implore anyone who witnessed this accident to contact the Amherst police (complaint No. 807788). If you saw a single digit or detail, hear or have heard the driver bragging about the accident, or have any other information, please call. I know where this driver exited, have a detailed description of the car and witnesses to identify it. I just need a little more information.
Think of the type of person who could drive someone from the road with such reckless abandon and flee without knowing whether that driver was dead or injured. Should they not be forced to take responsibility for such egregious behavior, even if their own flawed character compels them to shirk from that responsibility? I know I do, and I hope you do, too. Please help me. |
