Let's pursue local ownership of Bills

How much money does Ralph Wilson need? There is a salary cap that limits how much he can spend on players. This is the only sports model that allows small-market teams to exist. That is how Green Bay, population 100,000, is able to have championship teams. The fans of Western New York have made Wilson a multimillionaire, possibly a billionaire, over the last 48 years.

We fans have done nothing but support the Bills emotionally and financially. It is easy to slam the politicians of this area for being inept, but in fact, local government has given Wilson and the Bills everything they have asked for over the years. In the 70s, when Wilson wanted a new stadium, we the taxpayers paid for two, one in Orchard Park and dome that was not built. In the late 90s, Wilson demanded guaranteed season ticket sales and luxury boxes. He got those. He wanted more parking and vendor revenues and a sweet lease deal; he got those also.

Where does the money go? It's not to pay the best football minds. Let face it, there were only two times in Bills' history when we had championship teams, the 60s with the Lou Saban/Jack Kemp era and early 90s, the Bill Polian/ Jim Kelly era. All the other years, we fielded many losing teams.

Now is the time for local ownership of this team. If the wealthy of this area cannot step up to acquire the Bills, then I am forced to agree with a politician (Rep. Brian Higgins) to force the NFLto execute the Green Bay model here. If it exists for one, it should be an option for all. Get Al Davis' lawyers and file a lawsuit right now to start the process. He won all his court cases against the NFL.
